Snow in Atlanta has disrupted air travel and created harsh driving conditions

A massive snowstorm in the southern US has brought air traffic to a standstill, leaving thousands of travelers stranded.

While Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport remained open Sunday, hundreds of flights were canceled with many more facing heavy delays.

Officials report that Delta Airlines canceled 330 flights on Sunday, with 1,400 more cancellations expected today. AirTran has already canceled nearly 300 Monday flights.

Heavy snowfall is also causing travel nightmares in Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississippi, states that rarely see this type of winter storm.
