Terminal C at TPA was closed today due to security incident

A terminal at Tampa International Airport was placed on lock down Wednesday due to a police dog training exercise.

While it only lasted about an hour, every passenger in the airport was forced to evacuate and be re-screened by Transportation Security Administration workers inside Terminal C.

Eight flights were affected due to the incident, leaving an estimated 1,000 passengers with nowhere to go. Tampa Airport said that less than 10 people missed their flight due to the inconvenient event.

An email sent to the Associated Press from TIA spokeswoman Brenda Geoghagan said that the canine team had lost one of their training tools at the Airside C terminal. The tool was eventually recovered and Tampa's airport was back in business immediately.
