Team Russia’s New Neighbors at Kensington Palace

Team Russia are set to rent out famous Perks Field next to Kensington Palace during the 2012 Olympic Games.

The Russian Embassy in London aims to build up “a little piece of Russia in the heart of London,” where the country’s fans can accumulate and support the ever so successful team.

There’s even something for visitors taking flights to London who aren’t interested in sport. The park will host fashion shows and TV projection screens and other family based attractions.

Russian athletes will further be offering master classes as the Olympic Games take place.

During the 2008 Games in Beijing, Russia came third on the medals board with high expectations for London 2012.

Vice President of the Russian Olympics Committee Akhmed Bilalov said, “For us as a nation it is very important to have a good result in London.”

If you haven’t got tickets for the Olympics, don’t worry! You’ll find huge projection screens in Hyde Park and a whole host of exciting things to do in the city, just a cheap flight away.
