Arsht Performing Arts Center
Miami is considered somewhat of a year-round destination, since it's located so far south and has warm temperatures throughout the year. Few other places in the U.S. can you be lying on a beach in both the winter and the summer. However, it isn't unlikely to experience a rain shower sometime during your trip, maybe even on a daily basis, although these rarely keep you inside for the entire day. Below you'll find a round-up of some of the best things to do on a rainy day. So there is no need to check the weather whenever you book flights to Miami.
Go rock climbing: No really. Miami isn't exactly a destination that comes to mind first when you think of rock climbing, but you can in fact rock climb indoors in Miami. There are a couple different places around Miami that offer rock climbing with X-TREME Rock Climbing Center being the most notable with over 14,000 square feet of rock climbing. The rock climbing center even offers classes for novice climbers. If you don't have your own equipment, you can rent their equipment.
Lowe Art Museum: Miami has established itself as one of the premier art destinations in the U.S. You can see it from the architecture, such as in the Art Deco District, to the many art museums and galleries. There are tons of art museums to choose from, though one of my favorites is the Lowe Art Museum. The museum features permanent exhibits that span multiple time periods, as well as many temporary exhibits.
Wolfsonian Museum: The Wolfsonian Museum is a good stop after a drive through the Art Deco Historic District of Miami. The Wolfsonian isn't your typical art museum, as it features unique pieces of artwork from the Industrial Revolution up to the end of World War II. Many pieces of the vintage artwork includes posters, signs, photographs, graphic designs, and collectibles that highlight different cultures of that area.
Arsht Performing Arts Center: The Arsht Center is the largest performing arts center in Florida and the second largest in the U.S. It's worth a visit rain or shine. The performing arts center features some of the best comedians, musicians, and musicals in the world. Upcoming events include Shrek the Musical, B.B. King, and The Lion King.
Kendall Ice Arena: You may not be able to experience much of winter in Miami, but that doesn't mean you can't go ice skating. During the winter months this can be your winter wonderland experience, while during the summer it can be a nice break from the heat and humidity. If you don't have your own ice skates, it's just $3 to rent some from the arena.
