This August 25th marks the centenary of our beloved U.S. National Parks (thanks, Teddy)! The conservation efforts began when naturalist and author John Muir put into words the as yet untold splendor of America’s natural resources. Indeed, the grandeur of Yosemite kicked off the idea of conservation when it was placed under the protection of California by President Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War. Thus began efforts to protect America’s natural beauty, finally culminating in the creation of our U.S. National Parks network in 1916. So strap on your hiking boots, load up your car and find out which park you should head to this week!

Which park did you get? Let us know how you’ll be celebrating in the comments!
