The National Christmas Tree in Washington

President Obama and his family will be on hand to light the National Christmas Tree on Thursday, December 1, according to an announcement from the National Parks Service.

The Obamas will join a star-studded cast that includes Carson Daly, will.i.am, OneRepublic, Kermit the Frog, and jolly old Saint Nick himself inside President’s Park, one of more than 400 national parks in the United States.

Thousands of visitors arriving on December flights to Washington D.C. are expected to visit the National Tree this year. Can’t make it to DC Thursday? You can follow the ceremony live at http://www.thenationaltree.org/. Coverage begins at 4:30 PM EST.

The Thursday event marks the 89th annual holiday tree lighting ceremony in the nation’s capital.
