Tourism officials in New York City and Seoul, South Korea have announced a partnership aimed at boosting tourism in both cities.
A major part of the agreement will be a joint advertising effort in both metropolises. More than 130 advertisements promoting travel to New York City will appear in Seoul’s commercial and financial districts while over 70 ads for Seoul will appear in NYC, including several flashy, digital ads in Times Square.
In addition, Korean Air will begin offering discounted flights to New York City from the South Korean capital.
The partnership will be the first with an Asian city for New York. The Big Apple has formed partnerships with London, Miami, Madrid, and Sao Paulo in the past. Nearly a quarter of a million South Koreans visited New York in 2010.
