Frontier to debut new miles program this fall

Frontier Airlines announced Tuesday that it will discontinue its frequent-flyer partnership with AirTran Airways, effective July 16, 2010. Established in November 2006, the partnership let both carriers' frequent flyer members earn and use miles on both airlines.

With the incorporation of Midwest Miles about to take place with Frontier's EarlyReturns program, this news does not come as a surprise. The new combined program will launch sometime this fall.

Republic Airways announced last month the merger of Frontier and Midwest , with the new carriers to work under the Frontier Airlines name. The combining of the two companies will take 12 to 18 months to complete.
