There’s something about the sunset that captivates us. Some may say a sunrise holds the same type of aura as a sunset, but whether it’s the thought of having to get up early or not, we as people are more drawn to a beautiful sunset. Although we typically imagine the best sunsets in the world from the shores of a beach, that’s not always the case.

Read on to learn what we think are the 5 best places to see some amazing sunsets in the US.

Waikiki Beach, Hawaii

You can’t have a conversation about sunsets and not talk about Waikiki, being that it’s one of the most picturesque scenes in the entire world! The sunset here is incorporated into daily life, with many daily activities centering around it, such as sunset movies and sunset Segway tours. From a beach chair along the shore, a tiki hut bar or hotel balcony, the sunset from Waikiki Beach is not to be missed.

Grand Canyon, Arizona

Arizona as a whole is known for its colorful night skies. What better way to see an Arizona sunset than from its most famous landmark? Not many people do the Grand Canyon sunset because it requires finding local accommodations, which can be far and few between near the Grand Canyon, but worth it for the once-in-a-lifetime experience and great photographs.

Santa Monica Pier, California

The Santa Monica Pier is that one cliché sunset scene that everyone has to do once in their life. The pier is an American icon and is a sight in and of itself, but especially when you add the sunset to it. The Santa Monica Pier is one of the most photographed places in America and is guaranteed to offer a fun ambiance at sunset.

Stratosphere, Las Vegas

Surprising to many, the Vegas area features some great spots for watching the sunset. A unique blend of the great outdoors with the ominous mountains and the lit-up skyline, Las Vegas makes for an interesting sunset. The best view from the city can be attained by going up to the top view area of the Stratosphere Hotel and Casino, which features a 360-degree view of
the Vegas skyline.

Outer Banks, North Carolina

Known much more for its sunrises, rather than sunsets, the East Coast sneaks on to our list with the addition of the Outer Banks in North Carolina. As a double coastline, the Outer Banks is unusual in how you can enjoy going out on one beach to see the sunrise and head (a short distance) to the other side to see the sunset. Hatteras Island is just one of the many great spots for catching the sunset at the Outer Banks.

Make sure you experience some of these great sunset locations by planning your next trip NOW!
