Get Out of the Sun and Sip on a Cold One
South Florida’s coolest bars are almost always on the water, right? The residential laid back Fort Lauderdale can surprise you with its nightlife, so be careful not to dismiss this city too quickly as dull and boring when it comes to the party department.
Here are some cool places to hang out in Fort Lauderdale. Who knows, one of them may well become your next “Cheers” like watering hole:
The Elbo Room: Located on S. Fort Lauderdale Bach Blvd, this former restaurant is a popular hangout and great for people watching. Located right on Fort Lauderdale beach, this complete party scene bar features dancing and more, and visitors are encouraged to wear a “hard hat” or a “beer hat.”
The Field Irish Pub & Eatery: From live Irish music to good, authentic food include some of the best potatoes, cheese and Guinness, this bar and pub is located on 3281 Griffin Road. Call (954) 964-5979 for reservations. Tip? Try the homemade cinnamon ice cream with your drink.
Tarpon Bend Food & Tackle: This is a popular spot among the laid back crowd in their 20s and 30s. Great for afternoon happy hours, this spot features live bands and also great Mexican food.
Himmarchee Village: is an area of strip bars and restaurants for locals and located along 2nd street. You can find just about any cool place or dive when you walk along the strip and enjoy beers from portable coolers.
Murphy’s Law: For something more spacious, try the two story bar that features loud music and a venue that’s just generally great for meeting locals. This bar brands itself as “South Florida’s Best Irish bar” and is located in the Hard Rock Casino & Hotel. There are VIP rooms for larger parties and a special bottle menu for private parties.
