A plethora of free beach concerts may be in the future of the Alabama coast, courtesy of BP.
On Sunday thousands of people crowded in for a free Jimmy Buffet concert at the beach in Gulf Shores.
Officials say they hope to bring in a string of big-name performers through the fall with funding from BP, whose tremendous oil spill has greatly damaged tourism on the Gulf of Mexico coast.
Faith Hill, Jack Johnson, and Zac Brown are some of the prospective acts according to promoters.
The free shows would help to bring in visitors to the beach where Buffet played while generating business for hotels, condominiums, restaurants and stores.
