Keen observers flying today might notice something a little different about their flight. Air France and Air India are just two of the airlines flying 100% female-operated flights Tuesday in honor of International Women’s Day.
Air France will feature a female-only cabin crew on a flight from Paris Charles de Gaulle to Hong Kong. Air India will offer 11 such flights throughout the day, including one on its New Dheli-Toronto route.
According to Air France, about seven percent of the airline’s 4,200 pilots are female. In a press release announcing the special flights, the carrier noted that women operate every type of aircraft in its fleet, including the brand new Airbus A380.
