Tis’ the season for bright lights, jolly neighbors, and hot tourism spots that will get you into the holiday spirit! There’s a number of places and attractions around the world that will have you feeling joyful as we wait for the big man in red to arrive. And a large part of the holiday season vibes are about reliving your childhood and bringing back feel-good memories. Buckingham Palace, England

Jetting off to the residence of the Royals is always a good idea. Although you will only get as far as outside the gates of the palace, witnessing the changing of the guards is incredible to watch in fact, the loads of excitement will make you feel like a kid again. During the holidays you’ll see the palace covered in a blanket of snow resembling the inside of that Christmas snow globe you used to stare into.

Macy’s 34th Street, New York

New York City is filled with Christmas spirit from Rockefeller Center, to Saks window displays on 5th Avenue, to the famous Macy’s on 34th Street. The best place to get in the spirit of the holidays is at the North Pole Village in Santaland located at Macy’s Herald Square. Admission to visit Santaland is free of charge and does not require a reservation, however, a visit with Santa is by reservation only. The classic film Miracle on 34th Street took place at this flagship store in Herald Square and taking a trip here will have you believing in Santa Clause all over again, that is… if you don’t already believe.

North Pole, Alaska

During your childhood years, we bet going to the North Pole was on your wishlist during the Christmas season. This may come as news to you, but the North Pole really does exist! This town in Alaska is decked out with Christmas 365 days a year. Some of the streets are named Kris Kringle Drive, Mistletoe Lane and Santa Claus Lane and you can even find Santa Claus’ house here. If you’re visiting near Christmas Day you’ll definitely see news broadcasters filming and reporting on the search for Santa. Don’t think twice about writing a letter to mail to your kids or family members that will include the real address of the North Pole. A visit here will surely blow your childhood mind!

Neuschwanstein Castle, Germany

Remember the classic movie, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang? If so, you probably recognize this castle as it was featured in the famous film. Neuschwanstein Castle is located in Germany above the village of Hohenschwangau and is one of the world’s most iconic castles. Disney princess’ castles were inspired by this massive castle and if you were a child who fantasized about dragons and princesses then a trip here will certainly take you back to younger years. Visiting during the winter season is nothing short of magical as the snow lays perfectly on the castle and the surrounding trees and mountains.

Park Güell, Spain

If Dr. Seuss books and building gingerbread houses remind you of your childhood then Park Güell is the perfect spot for you to reminisce, especially during the holiday season. This park located in Barcelona is currently a UNESCO World Heritage Site and was designed by famous architect, Antoni Gaudí. It’s made up of enchanting statues and buildings filled with bright colors, mythological references, historical nuances, and quirky symbolism. Taking a trip here ought to bring back memories of your childhood fantasy stories.

Lake Geneva Region, Switzerland

Ever watch a movie featuring Santa in his sleigh? If so, Montreux’s Christmas Market will surely remind you of times when Santa Claus was all the rage. This market located in the Lake Geneva Region in Switzerland is one of the largest Christmas markets around. The activities are endless, there’s a variety of food options, mulled wine, 160 merchants in mini chalets, live entertainment, arts and crafts, a Ferris wheel situated in the middle of the market, and the best of all… Santa in his sleigh driving his reindeer above the market every day! It’s the perfect spot to get in the spirit as you shop, eat, and be MERRY!
