Although you will only get as far as outside the gates of the palace, witnessing the changing of the guards is incredible to watch in fact, the loads of excitement will make you feel like a kid again. Some of the streets are named Kris Kringle Drive, Mistletoe Lane and Santa Claus Lane and you can even find Santa Claus’ house here. If you’re visiting near Christmas Day you’ll definitely see news broadcasters filming and reporting on the search for Santa. Neuschwanstein Castle, Germany Remember the classic movie, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang? If so, you probably recognize this castle as it was featured in the famous film. Neuschwanstein Castle is located in Germany above the village of Hohenschwangau and is one of the world’s most iconic castles. Disney princess’ castles were inspired by this massive castle and if you were a child who fantasized about dragons and princesses then a trip here will certainly take you back to younger years. Visiting during the winter season is nothing short of magical as the snow lays perfectly on the castle and the surrounding trees and mountains. Park Güell, Spain If Dr. Seuss books and building gingerbread houses remind you of your childhood then Park Güell is the perfect spot for you to reminisce, especially during the holiday season. This park located in Barcelona is currently a UNESCO World Heritage Site and was designed by famous architect, Antoni Gaudí. It’s made up of enchanting statues and buildings filled with bright colors, mythological references, historical nuances, and quirky symbolism. This market located in the Lake Geneva Region in Switzerland is one of the largest Christmas markets around. The activities are endless, there’s a variety of food options, mulled wine, 160 merchants in mini chalets, live entertainment, arts and crafts, a Ferris wheel situated in the middle of the market, and the best of all… Santa in his sleigh driving his reindeer above the market every day!
