Machu Picchu in Peru
Have you been anxiously anticipating a visit to Peru's Machu Picchu, but been putting it off due to it's sudden closure two months ago? Well rejoice fans of ancient Incan cities, as you can now once again make your way to this amazing travel destination.
Thursday night a ceremony was held to welcome people back to Machu Picchu. Actress Susan Sarandon even made an appearance at the event which asked mother Earth to bless the sacred land.
Floods washed away the only rail link to the extremely popular tourist destination back in January stranding roughly 4,000 people who eventually had to be rescued via a helicopter.
Machu Picchu is by far Peru's biggest tourist attraction, with an estimated 1,500-2,000 tourists visiting per day.
