My Family Trip to Cancun, Mexico
This post was most recently updated on August 5th, 2019
Some may think a trip to Mexico is for an epic spring-break-like experience, but what some may not know is that there’s something for everyone who’s ready for some fun in the sun! Cancun’s white sand beaches, hot temps, and crystal waters are just about a 3-hour flight from New York City, making it super convenient for a family trip!
I went on a 10-day Mexico family vacation with my wife and two daughters to ring in the New Year.
Soon as I arrived I realized there are two types of travelers, the ones who prefer to relax and take advantage of amenities offered at the resort their staying, and those who wander outside to go on excursions, learn about the different culture and customs of a foreign place. I am a traveler who wanders and explores. Here are some of our pictures from that time.
Come Experience Cancun with My Family and I
Xcaret is a cool eco-archeological park located in the Riviera Maya with a bunch of parks and tours available for tourists. We purchased tickets for the Paradise River tour. We took the tour in a wooden raft down to an underground cave that took us through a tropical jungle trail. The trail led to a lake where we went snorkeling for the first time and saw tons of exotic schools of fish swimming beneath us.
A Day Spent at Dolphinaris
My wife and I treated our daughters to a birthday surprise at Dolphinaris. It’s one of the largest Dolphinariums in the world. My daughters got to swim with the dolphins and the most exciting part of it all was when a dolphin picked them both up carrying them over the water with their fins while they were standing on their feet! This was the most memorable part of the entire trip that I hope they’ll remember for a lifetime.
My Daughters with an Entertainer
A great part of my trip to Cancun was that we stayed at a kid-friendly resort. Pictured here are my two girls with an entertainer at our resort.
Our last excursion of the trip was to Chichén Itzá, a complex of Mayan ruins located on Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula. It’s one of the most popular sites travelers visit in Mexico. We visited El Castillo, a temple inside of a step pyramid. It’s massive in size and is federal property, so don’t even think try to climb it!
My kids were having fun, so I couldn't help but to join them... or shall I say scare them!
My Wife on Our Hotel Room Balcony
For a view of the resort we stayed at, here's my wife with the gorgeous background of the resort pool and beach!
Live Entertainment at the Resort
The entertainment in Cancun, Mexico was a blast to watch! Here are traditional dancers performing at our resort.
A Talented Mariachi Band and Myself
A Mariachi band played while my family and I sat for lunch. They were so talented, I had to take a photo with them!
Once we completed our excursions, we ended what was one of the best times of our lives!
