From 06 June 2019, Chicago O’Hare International Airport will get new flights to and from Joplin, Missouri by the American Airlines, world’s largest carrier. The frequency of this new service will be twice in a day dropping to once in a day on Saturdays. Bookings for this new route has started on 12th January 2019. American Airlines will be operating this new route through a single-cabin Embraer ERJ-145 regional aircraft.

United Airlines has recently announced the introduction of seven new routes from its largest hub at Chicago's O' Hare International Airport in 2019. The new destinations with United Airlines flights from Chicago are Panama City, Destin, Grand Junction, Durango, Eugene, Redmond, and Halifax. The airline will operate daily flights from Chicago to Eugene, Halifax, and Redmond from June 6, 2019, and the weekend-only flights from Chicago to Grand Junction, Destin, Durango, and Panama City will begin from June 8, 2019..
In 2018, United Airlines has introduced 93 new routes, including 15 new international routes. Besides these new routes from Chicago, the airline will also add flights from Houston to Ontario and Durango next summer. From August 20, 2019, United Airlines will also operate flights from Los Angeles to Stockholm. Also, Traverse City will get new weekend-only flights to Washington Dulles International Airport next summer.

According to the Duluth International Airport officials, two flights will originate from Chicago O'Hare International Airport and two will come from Duluth International Airport. Duluth International Airport currently offers three nonstop flights to Chicago O’Hare International Airport through United Airlines. Also, Delta offers five daily nonstop flights to the Twin Cities.

Chicago Airport will be getting new seasonal American Airlines flight from Athens starting 4 May 2019 till 29 September 2019. The airline, with this new flight service, will be connecting the two cities for the first time. American Airlines will operate this service on Boeing 787-8 aircraft.
