Mount Tallac is a mountain peak near South Lake Tahoe. It is located in the Desolation Wilderness in the Eldorado National Forest and attracts about 10000 mountain climbers every year. Located about 3 miles from this mountain is the Tallac Historic Site that comprises the Baldwin Estate, the Pope Estate and Valhalla. Vikingsholm

The Vikingsholm is a 38-room grand mansion situated on the shore of Emerald Bay at Lake Tahoe, about 12 miles away from the city of South Lake Tahoe. It was built in 1929 in traditional late 19th century Scandinavian Revival architectural style. It was built as a summer home by Mrs. Lora Josephine Knight, who had traveled to Scandinavia to get a few ideas about designing her house. Also worth noting is the point that most of this building was using locally sourced materials.
