Things to Do in Newark
Branch Brook Park
Branch Brook Park is an American treasure! With over 5,300 cherry trees.
The park in a national landmark, distinguished by being the first county
park to be opened for public use in the United States. It was added to the
National Registers of Historic Places in 1981. It was designed by famed
landscape architect Frederick Law Olmstead in 1900 (NYCs Central Park).
There are 14 varieties of cherry blossoms which have come to be known as
Cherry blossom and. It features a lake, meandering streams, and in the
north, the Second River channel. Also, from here visitors can capture
spectacular view of the Cathedral Basilica across the lake.
Forest Hill
A quiet neighborhood nestled against the centerpiece of the first county
park in America, and only minutes to a night at the symphony in NJPAC, a
concert at The Prudential Center, an art opening at oneof Newark’s many
galleries, and dinner and drinks downtown. The suburb of Newark is the

Founded in 1845, the New Jersey Historical Society is the oldest cultural
