The park was opened for public in 1985 and is considered among the largest zoos in South Asia. Arignar Anna Zoological Park is home to more than 170 species of mammals, reptiles, and birds. Some of the major species found in this park are tiger, blackbuck, jaguar, baboon, Nilgiri langur, star tortoise, Ilama, and more. This zoo is also home to Deer Safari park and Lion safari Park where visitors can see animals in their natural habitat.
