Places of Interest in Delta The largest city in the Millard County of the US state of Utah, Delta is a beautiful city with desert-like topography and pleasant weather. The town got its start when the Melville Irrigation Company gained rights to divert the water from the Sevier River Reservoir. The city boasts rich rock, fossil specimen, and minerals in the surrounding desert and hence it makes the city an excellent home base for crystal gazers, gemologists, and rock hounds. Delta is home to the popular attractions including the Great River Basin Historical Society Museum, Sunset View Golf Course, and Fort Deseret. Other attractions in the proximity of this city include the Little Sahara Sand Dunes and Topaz Camp.
Great Basin Museum Established in 1989, Great Basin Museum beautifully showcases the rich natural and cultural history of the city in a way making the visit educational, pleasant, and thought-provoking. The museum boasts displays of rocks and fossils found in the west desert, as well as western cultural and historical artifacts and a video on Topaz, which is a World War II Japanese Internment Camp.
Fort Deseret Erected in 1865 to safeguard the settlers during the Blackhawk Indian War, Fort Deseret is a landmark of Mormon pioneer history. This fort is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Fort Deseret is the only remaining example of numerous adobe forts constructed in the US state of Utah. The communal construction of the fort perfectly exemplifies the resourceful and cooperative nature of Mormon settlement.
Sunset View Golf Course An excellent place to visit for golf lovers, Sunset View Golf Course is an 18-holf golf course located in Delta. The golf course is boasts greens and fairways that are always in great condition. The greens here are very fast and smooth and the desert landscape offers a good challenge on off center hits. Sunset View Golf Course features a good assortment of holes and the maturing trees.
