Emerald Bay State Park

Another attraction here is a nearly 90-year-old 38-room mansion called Vikingholm, which is a world-class example of Scandinavian architecture.


Built in 1930s, the Vikingsholm is a posh mansion located along the Emerald Bay near South Lake Tahoe. It was built as a summer home for Mrs. Lora Josephine Knight who had traveled to Scandinavia to understand the salient features of the architecture. Most of this mansion was built using locally sourced materials.

Lake Tahoe-Nevada State Park

Lake Tahoe-Nevada State Park is located on the northeast shores of Lake Tahoe near South Lake Tahoe. It is a hotspot for bouldering, picnicking, trailing and boating. Visitors also take a strong liking for its Sand Harbor, which is a sandy beach and the site of the annual Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival.
