Lapangan Puputan Margarana (Puputan Park)
The Puputan Park is an ornately decorated park in Denpasar. It is home to a grey stone monument (called Bajra Sandhi monument) signifying Indonesian independence from the Dutch in 1945. It is famous for a various puputans (a local ritual involving fighting to death) of the Balinese people against the Dutch forces during early 20th century.
Serangan is a small island located 0.5 kms away from Denpasar in Bali. The island is comparatively small (measuring 2.9 km by 1 km) and is famous for its turtles. One can also visit one of Bali's six most sacred temples here- Pura Dalem Sakenan.
Bajra Sandhi Monument
Built like a traditional bell, the Bajra Sandhi Monument displays a remarkable display of historical dioramas related to people’s past struggle. It stands in front of the Bali Governor's Office in Denpasar and was built in 1987. This iconic monument is built into three parts, the façade, the inner courtyard and the outer courtyard.
