South Putuo Temple
The South Putuo Temple is a Buddhist temple located facing the sea at the foot of Wulaofeng (Mountain of Five Old Men). Anyone traveling to the city must include the temple in his itinerary. The area in and around the temple offers scenic views. The temple was once known as Puzhao Temple (Universal Grace Temple) and was constructed during the reign of the Tang Dynasty (618-907). Nearly 30,000 square meters of area is covered by the temple and it comprises around four main buildings; Devajara Hall (the Hall of Heavenly Kings), Mahavira Hall (Daxiongbaodian), Dabei Hall (the Hall of Great Compassion) and a Pavilion.

Located towards the southwest of the Xiamen city is the Gulangyu Island. The island can be reached in 5 minutes from Xiamen city via steamship. Gulangyu Island has been registered under China's list of National Scenic Spots. It is renowned for its ancient relics, natural beauty, and architecture. Gulangyu Island has derived its name from the vast reef surrounding the area. There are numerous scenic sights on the island. Some of the major attractions here include Sunlight Rock in the south-central part of the island and Shuzhuang Garden located on the southern side of the island.

Xiamen Travelers' Reviews

  • Banff via Cheap O Air

Banff and the flight were both great. CheapOair did a great job communicating and making it easy to be the passenger - staying easily connected with the airlines for check-in etc. Banff is an absolutely amazing place and I love what I saw of Canada. Did the 3 mountains on a ski vacation - for us (not overly experienced skiers) - Sunshine is perfect and family friendly - Lake Louise is pretty and a little too hard even on the greens...and Mr Norquay is the most amazing view ever - the tubing and the view are the fun there. Town of Banff is great and the shuttle service everywhere makes things easy for the visitor. Thank you for the hospitality into your countrty. - Jane  Mar 16, 2020
