Central Market

The Central Market is a great place to explore the culture, local products, textiles, spices, fruits, vegetables, and souvenirs at extremely economical prices. Fort Adelaide (La Citadelle)

Fort Adelaide, situated on the hill overlooks the city of Port Louis and its harbor. The construction of the fort is said to have completed around 10 years later since its beginning in 1832. From the fort, one can capture mesmerizing views of the city of Port Louis, its harbor, and the mountains surrounding the region.

Blue Penny Museum

Located in the famous mall of Port Louis, Le Caudan Waterfront, the Blue Penny Museum plays a significant role in the culture of Mauritius. The museum received its name from extremely rare 2 pence Blue Stamp. On one of these two "Post Office" was engraved by Joseph Osmond Barnard in the year 1847 for the Mauritian Posts. At the museum, visitors can learn about French, Dutch, and British colonial eras. The expansive collection here reveals about the history and heritage of the entire island and comprise of ancient marine maps, sculptures, old stamps, paintings, engravings, and more. For the ease of visitors audio guides are available in English, French, German, Italian, and Creole.
