Named after a noted Marshal who had proudly served Napoleon Bonaparte during the Napoleonic Wars, Massena is a town in St. Lawrence County in New York (United States) near the US-Canada border. It was earlier known for its spas and is now being financially led by a booming aluminum industry. You should visit it for its scenic beauty and the Barnhardt Island, the latter being home to the Robert Moses State Park. This park offers several recreation activities like camping, trailing, hiking and picnicking etc. Also of note in Massena town is an eponymous village that is situated along Raquette River and is famous for its mineral water springs, called the Massena Springs.
The northernmost point of New York, Robert Moses State Park is a 2322 acre state park in Barnhart Island in the Saint Lawrence River near Massena. Visitors can have a nice time here at the local beach, a nature trail, hiking trails through woods and wetlands, fishing, a boat launch, a campground with tent and trailer sites, cabins, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling amidst some tranquil calmness and superb natural beauty.
Massena Museum Massena Museums collection is what may be best described as multiple screenshots related to the history and culture of this 18th century town. Visitors are led through dedicated displays of the bygone eras here, and some of the major displays here include Massena yearbooks, old deeds and wills, poll tax and ledger (192-1922), 1944 earthquake damage tours and numerous historical photos of Marshal Andre Massena (famous French Marshal), Massena Fire Company and the Flood of 1917.
