The Zimbabwe Museum of Human Sciences
The Zimbabwe Museum of Human Sciences (formerly the Queen Victoria Museum) in Harare is best known for the oldest wooden object ever found in sub-Saharan Africa- a 7 year old artifact called Ngoma Lungundu. Common folklore believes that the drumlike object is a replica of the legendary Ark of the Covenant and is endowed with near-divine powers. Also of note in the museum are several galleries of ethnographic, archaeological and wildlife exhibits besides a model of an ethnic Zimbabwean village.
National Archives of Zimbabwe
The National Archives of Zimbabwe (estd: 1935) is home to a breathtaking collection of artifacts related to the history, geography and cultural heritage of Rhodesia and African continent. Central to its significance is a classic exhibition of Zimbabwes War of Liberation, and several old pictures and diaries of explorers and settlers.
