The Carnival of Venice (Italy)
One of the biggest festivals in Europe, the Carnival of Venice is celebrated in the city of Venice every year between January and February and ends 40 days before Easter. At this festival, socialites disguise themselves in elaborate masks and costumes, inspired from the 18th century clothing. The Carnival of Venice is also known as Mardi Gras. This festival is now celebrated all over the world. During the carnival, imposing Venetian palaces become host to a number of elite parties. Visitors can buy traditional sweets - Frittelle & Galani, from any bakery in town during the carnival.
La Tomatina (Spain)
La Tomatina is a madcap tomato-throwing event taking place on the last Wednesday of August each year. In this festival, the participants launch tomato attacks on fellow participants, which eventually becomes a full-fledged tomato war. This chaotic and funny tomato fight takes place between 11 am 1 pm on that day. The organizers of this event actually cultivate inedible tomatoes particularly for this event.
One of the biggest European Music Festivals, Tomorrowland takes place in the city of Boom in Belgium. The first edition of this festival was held in 2005. Tomorrowland distinctly stands out from the rest of the music festivals around the world due to the dream-like stage designs that change into cobras, castles, and bookcases. It is a music festival, having much more than just visual delight. The world-class music systems literally make visitor’s heart beat faster than ever.
