The Great Barrier Reef
The Great Barrier Reef is the world's largest coral reef system and it is
located at 340 miles away from the city of Richmond in Australia. It is the
world's biggest single structure made by living organisms that is visible
from outer space. Spread over 133000 square miles, the Great Barrier Reef
comprises of nearly 3000 individual reefs and 900 small islands. It
supports an extensive range of diverse marine life consisting of many
endangered species, over a thousand species of fish, corals, whales,

Kronosaurus Korner
Millions of years ago, Richmond was a hotbed of dinosaurs and other
prehistoric animal and bird species. Today their fossilized remains are
found aplenty here and there is no better place in the city to see them
together than Kronosaurus Korner, a gold-standard of marine fossil museum
in Richmond. It is home to some of the best preserved fossilized dinosaurs
that could be as old as 20 million years. Two star attractions here are the
fossilized structures of a 10-meter long marine reptile called Pliosaur and
Wanda, which is the largest fossilized fish ever found in Australia.
Cambridge Downs Heritage Display Centre
Cambridge Downs Heritage Display Centre is an old stone building and
display centre that is built on a built on an original 150-year old
homestead site. It showcases local history, cultures and practices. This
site or its vicinity was the place where some armed clashes had taken place
in the 19th century between the aboriginal natives and white men
as the latter used to deliberately send their cattle to graze near the
outpost. This misconduct was seen as a deliberate intrusion by the natives
who used to oppose it tooth and nail, thus resulting in armed
confrontations.
Lake Fred Tritton and Lakeview Caravan Park
Lake Fred Tritton in Richmond offers swimming, water sports and fishing. It
also has a boat ramp, and several picnic and barbeque facilities. Visitors

Fossil Festival
Fossil Festival is a proud reminder of the city’s rich paleontological
history. It is celebrated every year during the May Day long weekend and is
studded with several events like Fossil Hunting, street parties, bush
poetry, rodeos, horse racing, and the World Championship Moon Rock
Throwing.
Rodeo
Richmond Rodeo Association organizes several events every year in July or
August. One of them all is the Mt Isa Rodeo and it is attended by some of
the best rodeos in the country. The Rodeo also involves a large number of
local participants that take part in events like bull ride and children's
novelty events such as the poddy ride.
