Best Time to Fly to Lizard Island, Australia

Mrs. Watson's Cottage
Mrs. Watson's Cottage (or Stone Ruin) is a late 19th century,
five-storied ruined house at Lizard Island National Park in Lizard Island.
It is situated overlooking Watson's Bay on the northern side of Lizard
Island and is the last remnant of the painful deaths of a courageous woman
named Mary Watson and her baby. Her husband was away from the island while
her house was attacked by Aboriginals in 1881 AD. She somehow fled the
scene with her baby and two servants to a nearby island only to die a few
days later of exhaustion and thirst there.
Lizard Island National Park
Lizard Island National Park is surrounded by coral reefs and hallmarked by
mangroves, sandy beaches, grasslands and woodlands. It is situated on
Lizard Island and attracts many swimmers and snorkelers who come here to
admire the beauty of the Great Barrier Reef. Some other attractions here
are Cook's Look (that offers a superb for view of the islands and reefs)
and the Blue Lagoon for secluded swimming and snorkeling.
