Lizard Island has a warm tropical monsoon climate with an average temperature of about 80 deg F throughout the year. It is best to visit here during the dry season that runs from July to September. Mrs. Watson's Cottage

Mrs. Watson's Cottage (or Stone Ruin) is a late 19^th century, five-storied ruined house at Lizard Island National Park in Lizard Island. It is situated overlooking Watson's Bay on the northern side of Lizard Island and is the last remnant of the painful deaths of a courageous woman named Mary Watson and her baby. Her husband was away from the island while her house was attacked by Aboriginals in 1881 AD. She somehow fled the scene with her baby and two servants to a nearby island only to die a few days later of exhaustion and thirst there.
