Places of Interest in Connacht

Connacht or Connaught is a province in Ireland and lies in the western part of the country along the Atlantic Ocean. Within its boundary are counties of Mayo, Sligo, Galway, Leitrim, and Roscommon. The province has till date managed to preserve its rich Gaelic heritage. Some of the most unspoilt and scenic countryside including the beautiful mountainous landscape of Connemara are located here. Mweelrea

Located in Mayo County, the Mweelrea Mountain is the highest mountain peak in the Connacht province. There is a Killary Harbor on one side and Doolough Pass on the other side of the mountain range. From the mountains, one can catch mesmerizing glimpses of Atlantic Ocean, Ben Gorm Mountains, the Maumturka, the Twelve Bens in Connemara, and the Sheeffry Hills.
