Animals on Bikes
The Animals on Bikes is a "Paddock Art" sculpture tourist trail. The trail
is nearly 120 kilometers long and is situated between Molong and the Dubbo
zoo. It is a self-drive tourist route and is free for all and remains open
throughout the year. The trail was originally started as a series of 2
meters high 45 creative sculptures. These were created by local farmers
& their wives, bus drivers, preschool kids, and other people who had
artistic flair. At present more than 100 sculptures are displayed here.
Mt. Canobolas
Mt. Canobolas is a nature reserve located towards southwest of Orange. It
comprises of waterfalls, walking trails, biking routes, and scenic views.
Located at the foot of the mountain is Lake Canobolas, allowing visitors to
enjoy wide range of activities including fishing, boating, and swimming.
The Lake Canobolas area has several facilities like picnic spots, barbecue,
playgrounds, canoeing, boating, and more. There is a walking track around
the lake from where one can see native birds and wildlife such as echidna.
Orange Regional Gallery
The Orange Regional Gallery allows tourists to learn about the culture of
the city of Orange. The architects of the gallery were awarded the 1986
Sulman Prize for Architectural Merit. The collection here includes prints
& contemporary paintings, jewellery, ceramics, and clothing. Some of
these reflect the wool industry & agricultural history of the city.
Till date, Orange Regional Gallery is said to be one of the best and
busiest regional galleries in Australia and holds nearly 30 exhibitions
annually.
