The Lions Park

The Lions Park is situated towards the west of the town of Blackwater. In the park are flags of around 37 nations. The reason behind this was to have a flag from every nation whose people were working on the coalfields. After United Nations, the Lions Park is said to have the largest flag display in the world.

Japanese Garden

The Japanese Garden in the town of Blackwater was opened on 1st August 1998. It shares the Sister Town Relationship with Fujisawa, Japan. It was constructed by Duaringa Shire council staff in association with around 14 Japanese gardeners and carpenters. Nearly 600 tonnes of ornamental stones have been used in the garden. A children's playground has been setup adjacent to the garden. It features restored steam locomotive, mining equipment display, and tourist information center.

Blackdown Tablelands is a sandstone island and is situated around 55 kilometers away from Blackwater. The island is approximately 600 meters above its surrounding plains. These were formed due to a shift in the earth's plates which occurred millions of years ago. Because of this shift the sedimentary rock & sandstone from an inland were pushed upwards.
