Munga-Thirri National Park

Munga-Thirri National Park (formerly called the Simpson Desert National Park) is the largest national park in Queensland. It is located 87 miles away from the town of Birdsville. This park is focally known for its several sand dunes, some of which are believed to 30000 years old and reach a height of 165 feet. This park is also a birdwatcher’s paradise because it is home to 180 native and exotic bird species.

Big Red

The Big Red is the most popular sand dune near Birdsville and is a hot cake among all four-wheel drive enthusiasts. This sand dune is 131 feet high is situated at half an hour’s ride away from Birdsville. It is best to spend an evening at its top because of the picture-perfect scenes of sunsets here. Kidman's Tree of Knowledge

Birdsville Races

The Birdsville Races are held every year over a period of 7 days in September in the town of Birdsville in Queensland, Australia. These races were first organized in 1882 and since then, their popularity has only gone north. The Birdsville Big Red Bash is the world’s most remote 3-day camping music festival. It is celebrated a little over 20 miles away from Birdsville on the outskirts of the Simpson Desert, every year in July. It features Australian singers and country and rock musicians and is attended by more than 5000 people every year. This iconic festival is also hallmarked by some desert drag races and indigenous craft workshops that are open for everyone to participate.
