I love Hilo - I happened to be there during Merrrie Monarch and even there were literally bus loads of tourists everyone in Hilo seemed to be able to deal with volumes of international visitors with Aloha spirit; there are beautiful artisans and some of the most delicious food ever - try Pesto Cafe

Hilo was wonderful! I went to the Merrie Monarch Festival, and enjoyed three days of lovely hula. Also, I visited with soem friends who live there. the condo we stayed at was ont he water, and was perfect. We got in the water every day, and discovered some great little lagoons. The weather was perfect. My skin and hair just loved it! the food, entertainment, surroundings, and people were wonderful. I love the farmers market there. I wil go back.
