The Art Institute has magically re-created Van Gogh’s bedroom that was in the\u00a0Yellow House<\/a>\u00a0at\u00a02 Place Lamartine in Arles, Bouches du Rhone, France<\/a>\u00a0based on his famous painting of it. \u00a0And you can stay in this bedroom like Van Gogh stayed so many years ago. \u00a0It’s all part of the Art Institute’s promotion of their new exhibition called\u00a0Van Gogh’s Bedrooms<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Van Gogh Listing<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Rent the apartment, in Chicago’s River North<\/em> neighborhood, on Airbnb.<\/a><\/p>\n

While the rental offer was posted by the Art Institute, it appears in the listing to be from none other than Van Gogh himself, who explains, \u201cI\u2019m charging $10 for no other reason than that I need to buy paint.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n

Lest this post give you the impression that the apartment is as spartan as the bedroom that Van Gogh depicted, we can report that, as per the Airbnb listing, it includes all of the modern amenities like internet, cable television, Wi-Fi, a kitchen, and much, much more.<\/p>\n

Van Gogh Exhibition<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Van Gogh’s Bedrooms<\/a>\u00a0exhibition is as unusual as the Van Gogh apartment rental, as it unites all three versions of The Bedroom<\/em>\u00a0in Arles<\/em>\u00a0for the very first time in North America.<\/p>\n

The version of the painting from the Mus\u00e9e d\u2019Orsay in Paris<\/a>\u00a0and the one from the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam<\/a>\u00a0join the Art Institute\u2019s own version, providing you with a rare opportunity to see all three\u00a0paintings together, and to experience Van Gogh\u2019s effort to paint a kind of restful, dream state in which he, and others who view the works, could feel at home.<\/p>\n
