That\u2019s why Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is challenging his 47 million online followers to lace up their shoes and get ready for \u201cA Year of Running.\u201d<\/a> The multi-billionaire has committed to running 365 miles in 2016, and he wants you to do the same.<\/p>\n

We think that an average of one mile a day is feasible for most\u2014however, jogging is always better when you have a gorgeous environment to do it in. The following seven travel destinations will surely inspire you to get in the mood to put on your jogging shorts!<\/p>\n

1.) An Imperial Run in Tokyo<\/a><\/h3>\n

Sure, you can explore Tokyo<\/a>\u2019s Imperial Palace with a tour group. For many people, however, the best way to see the Emperor of Japan\u2019s home is to jog the path that surrounds the property. Located right in the city center, this 5-kilometer path is safe to run even late into the night. The loop circles the palace and passes the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo Tower, and the British Embassy. For jogger convenience, the route features plenty of water fountains and vending machines.<\/p>\n

2.) A Seaside Stroll in Vancouver<\/a><\/h3>\n

A major reason why Vancouver<\/a> is often cited as one of the world\u2019s most livable cities is its miles of beautiful jogging paths. With gorgeous running locales like the Stanley Park Seawall, it\u2019s no wonder that outdoor enthusiasts flock to the city. The Seawall runs 5.5 miles along the ocean coast, offering amazing views of the North Shore Mountains, Downtown skyline, and various rock formations. Plus, the Pacific breeze will cool you down as you work up a sweat!<\/p>\n

3.) Conquering the Park Paths in New York<\/a><\/h3>\n

Jogging through Central Park in Manhattan<\/a> should be on every runner’s bucket list. Whether you’re a light jogger or a serious marathoner, you’ll find a range of suitable paths to choose from within its 843 acres. The full Central Park loop runs 6.1 miles through a variety of terrain. If you start to get tired running the whole thing, you can always make a pit stop at a hot dog cart.<\/p>\n

4.) Beachside Bliss in Rio de Janeiro<\/a><\/h3>\n

There\u2019s nothing quite like the feeling of enjoying a jog along a beautiful sandy shore. Rio de Janeiro<\/a> offers several options for beach joggers, but the 5-mile Leblon-Ipanema-Arpoador loop may be the best. Set along one of Rio\u2019s most popular urban beaches, this route is certainly a feast for the eyes. For a really special view of the Atlantic coast, run during sunrise or sunset.<\/p>\n

5.) Blaze Some Trails in Portland<\/a><\/h3>\n

With its relatively mild year-round climate and 100 miles of trails, Portland<\/a> beckons running enthusiasts from around the world. Perhaps this is one reason why both Nike and Adidas America have their headquarters in the area! To get a unique forest run with excellent views of the city, head up to Mount Tabor Park. The main park path includes a hike up the side of a volcano. (Don\u2019t worry, it\u2019s extinct).<\/p>\n

6.) Scale Some Peaks in Cape Town<\/a><\/h3>\n

If you enjoy a lot of hilly terrain on your jogging paths, you\u2019ll be impressed with the trails in Cape Town<\/a>. Devil\u2019s Peak, which overlooks the city from the south, features a rugged trail that\u2019s perfect for joggers who don\u2019t mind a little hill training. Even if you shy away from mountainous runs, the elevated view of South Africa\u2019s countryside will make it all worthwhile. Just be sure to pace yourself on the way up and take it easy when you head back down.<\/p>\n

7.) A Lakefront Gallop in Chicago<\/a><\/h3>\n

Sometimes an urban landscape can be just as visually interesting as a nature view. For those who enjoy gazing at an amazing skyline while they jog, few routes beat Chicago<\/a>\u2019s famed Lakefront Path. This paved route runs 18 miles along Lake Michigan. As you jog, the Willis Tower and John Hancock Center will be toward your west while the azure lake waters will remain to your east.<\/p>\n
