I was traveling in Iceland and had the opportunity to go Glacier Hiking and Ice Climbing with a company called Arctic Adventures. I have to admit, I was a bit scared since I have a serious fear of heights. But, it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience!<\/p>\n<p><strong>C:<\/strong> How long did it take for you to climb it?<br \/>\n<strong>KR:<\/strong> I practically ran up the ice wall because I was so nervous! It was about 20-30 ft tall, I&#8217;d say, but it only took me about 10 minutes to climb it. The ice axes and crampons (spikey things for your shoes) cling to the ice more than you&#8217;d think.<\/p>\n<p><strong>C:<\/strong> Are you really happy in this shot? Or are your cheeks frozen stiff?<br \/>\n<strong>KR:<\/strong> That&#8217;s my &#8220;I&#8217;m pretending to be happy but I&#8217;m scared&#8221; face. Actually, this was a genuine smile. I was really proud of myself for making it to the top. Once I realized I had to let go and rely on my cable to go back down, the smile faded pretty fast.<\/p>\n<p><strong>C:<\/strong> What\u2019s attached to your left bicep?<br \/>\n<strong>KR:<\/strong> That&#8217;s my iPhone in a LifeProof case. I always use one when I&#8217;m traveling because it&#8217;s freeze proof, drop proof and water proof. Perfect for places like Iceland!<\/p>\n<p><strong>C:<\/strong> Would you do it again?<br \/>\n<strong>KR:<\/strong> I&#8217;d definitely try ice climbing again. I won&#8217;t be climbing Everest anytime soon, but something safe while also challenging is always a great experience.<\/p>\n<p><strong>C:<\/strong> What advice would you give to a first-timer?<br \/>\n<strong>KR:<\/strong> Go with a guide. The guides with Arctic Adventures have years of experience and can create a safe experience for you.
