Just a short trip from Boston<\/strong><\/a> in the small town of Webster, Massachusetts, there is a lake that has been bugging locals for years. The issue has nothing to do with the look of the lake or even the smell of it. The problem lies within the body of water\u2019s official name…<\/p>\n

Yeah, good luck pronouncing that monstrous collection of vowels and consonants on the first attempt. It seems that the residents have such a hard time pronouncing the 13-syllable lake\u2019s name properly, that they have opted to just call it simply Lake Webster.<\/p>\n

Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg is the longest name for a locale in the United States. It is the 6th longest in the world.\u00a0 The 49-character name (the picture above was actually abbreviated by four-letters) has the letter\u00a0\u201cg” in it 17 times! You would clean up nicely if you picked the 7th<\/sup> letter of the alphabet while playing Wheel of Fortune with this title.<\/p>\n

That is in fact the most times a letter in the alphabet appears in one word. The name also features the letter \u201ca\u201d an astonishing 10 times (excluding the \u201ca\u201d in \u201clake\u201d), which is also more than any word in the English language. So what does the name translate to exactly? Lake Webster\u2019s official name is believed to mean, \u201cFishing Place at the Boundaries \u2014 Neutral Meeting Grounds.\u201d<\/p>\n
