Coney Island, Brooklyn <\/strong><\/p>\n

It feels like Coney Island has been living under the threat of the hangman\u2019s noose for the last few years now, but at last the future seems secure, now that the brand new Luna Park officially opened its 19 rides to the public on Memorial Day. Choose from \u201cThe Tickler\u201d roller-coaster, \u201cThe Beach Shack\u201d fake surfboard ride, or a log flume \u2013 or simply hit the beach. The famous Mermaid Parade will take place this year on June 19.<\/p>\n

Santa Monica, California<\/strong><\/div>\n

As well as the beautiful beach, with Baywatch lifeguard huts, palm trees and the cliffs of Northern California fading into the background, Santa Monica is worth a visit for its pier. Try the rides in Pacific Park, hop on the solar-powered Ferris Wheel or hit the games arcade; then when you\u2019re partied out, relax with some window (or real) shopping on the pedestrianized Third Street Promenade.<\/p>\n

Brighton, United Kingdom<\/strong><\/div>\n

Once the favorite seaside retreat for the British Royal Family, Brighton is slightly more appealing to the masses these days \u2013 and it makes a brilliant day trip from London<\/a> come summer. The beach may be pebbly rather than sandy, but that doesn\u2019t stop thousands of people crowding it when the sun comes out, and the Pier has arcade games, fairground rides and shops. For a spot of culture, head to the Indian-styled Royal Pavillion, built in the 19th century as a place for the Prince Regent to stay.<\/p>\n

Rimini, Italy<\/strong><\/div>\n

Rimini combines the very best of Italy<\/a> \u2013 beautiful beaches and historic towns \u2013 with a serious party atmosphere. The beach \u2013 on the Adriatic Sea \u2013 is crowded with bars, clubs, restaurants and hotels, while the town itself has architecture ranging from a Roman arch to the famous Tempio Malatestiano, the 13th-century cathedral which was reconstructed by famed Renaissance architect Leon Battista Alberti. Also, it\u2019s only a couple of hours south from beautiful Bologna.<\/p>\n

Seaside Heights, New Jersey<\/strong><\/div>\n

Did you really think we were going to leave out the Jersey Shore? As we reported this week, visitors to the Shore are expected to rocket this summer, and you can even rent the very house where Snooki and co stayed in Seaside Heights. Or, of course, you can drop down to Atlantic City (which also featured in the series) and try your hand at gambling.<\/p>\n
