With Denmark being named the happiest country in Europe recently, maybe it\u2019s time to plan a Scandi trip. Here are some ideas of where to go.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Copenhagen:<\/strong> One of Europe\u2019s most accessible capitals, Copenhagen\u2019s a joy to get round and the locals are extremely friendly. See the famous Little Mermaid statue, visit the Tivoli Gardens \u2013 one of the first pleasure gardens in the world \u2013 and take in the culture at the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek museum \u2013 the collection of Rodin sculptures is on a par with the official Rodin museum in Paris.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u00d8resund Bridge:<\/strong> Just outside Copenhagen, the \u00d8resund Bridge connects Denmark to Sweden, meaning you can cross the border and come back in under an hour. At nearly 8km, it\u2019s the longest road-rail combined bridge in Europe, but go for the beauty rather than the stats. Catch a train to pretty little Malmo and back \u2013 the journey\u2019s more than worth it.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Aarhus:<\/strong> Denmark\u2019s second city is a lively place thanks to its status as a university town. The cobbled Latin Quarter behind the cathedral is where the students hang out, making it a hub for nightlife, while there\u2019s also a fine collection of museums and art galleries as well. And if you want to see how things were, visit Den Gamle By, or The Old Town \u2013 an open air museum that\u2019s a reconstruction of a market town from Hans Christian Andersen\u2019s era.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Aalborg:<\/strong> Aalborg may be small, but it punches well above its weight when it comes to food. One of Denmark\u2019s top celeb chefs, Morten Nielsen, has a restaurant here, Mortens Kro, and the town is full of foodie shops and restaurants proffering locally-sourced food. It\u2019s also home to one of Denmark\u2019s most famous Viking burial grounds, Lindholm Hoje, and was deemed the most peaceful city in Europe two years ago.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Bisnap Beach:<\/strong> The beaches of Jutland (in the north of the county) are renowned as being some of Denmark\u2019s best, with white, powdery sand, dunes aplenty and views which stretch for miles.
