Cities such as Milan, Barcelona, Paris and Zurich have fully embraced the use of two wheels as a way to travel green and get some exercise in the process.\n<\/p>\n \n \n<\/p>\n \nBut one location that has probably needed it more than others is finally coming on board the cycle craze, as London debuts a new bike rental program.\n<\/p>\n \n \n<\/p>\n \nIt is no secret that the city can get congested most days with automobile traffic. So the news that London Mayor Boris Johnson, who just so happens to be a cycling fanatic, is implementing a new bike rental program should be welcoming news to the many locals and visitors that want a travel alternative when navigating the Square Mile. \n<\/p>\n \n \n<\/p>\n \nStarting today, 4,700 of the planned 6,000 bikes will be placed throughout London in 400 docking stations.\n<\/p>\n \n \n<\/p>\n \nYou must sign up for an annual membership, which will set you back 45 pounds ($70). The city plans to allow tourists and casual riders to rent the bikes starting something in late August or early September.\n<\/p>\n \n \n<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \n \n<\/p>\n \n \n<\/p>\n
