{"id":94608870,"date":"2011-06-20T12:00:00","date_gmt":"2011-06-20T12:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.cheapoair.com\/miles-away\/plans-unveiled-for-hypersonic-jet-that-could-travel-from-new-york-to-paris-in-2-5-hours\/"},"modified":"2011-06-20T12:00:00","modified_gmt":"2011-06-20T12:00:00","slug":"plans-unveiled-for-hypersonic-jet-that-could-travel-from-new-york-to-paris-in-2-5-hours","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cheapoair.com\/miles-away\/plans-unveiled-for-hypersonic-jet-that-could-travel-from-new-york-to-paris-in-2-5-hours\/","title":{"rendered":"Plans Unveiled for Hypersonic Jet That Could Travel From New York to Paris in 2.5 Hours"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\">\n<strong>A model of the planned ZEHST aircraft <\/strong>\n<\/div>\n<p>\n&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\nEADS, the parent company of aircraft-maker Airbus, has unveiled initial plans for a hypersonic jet that could travel between New York City and Paris in just under two and a half hours.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\nThe project calls for the development of an aircraft that would travel just outside of the Earth&#39;s atmosphere and emit little to no pollution.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\nThe conceptual project has been dubbed ZEHST, which stands for Zero Emission High Speed Transport.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\nWhile officials admit that commercial flights on the aircraft could still be decades away, they are adamant that the technology involved isn&rsquo;t simply the stuff of science fiction.&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n&quot;ZEHST has no novelty, it is all things that have been created before,&quot; said Jean Botti, chief technical officer for the company.
