With roots dating back to the late 1860s, the Denver Museum of Nature & Science<\/a> was founded by naturalist Edwin Carter and his impressive collection of Colorado animal specimens.\u00a0 With need for a large fireproof building to display Carter\u2019s and other collections, the museum was officially built in 1908.\u00a0\u00a0 Numerous expansions throughout the 20th and 21st century have grown the museum into a world-class science center full of exhibits, active scientific research, numerous collections, and interactive programs.
