<\/div>\n2012 proved to be an exceptional year for NYC tourism, despite Hurricane Sandy devastating<\/a><\/strong> each borough in its own horrific way.\u00a0 Officials are happy to announce that in 2012, New York City<\/a><\/strong> welcomed 52 million visitors \u2013 the most in history.\u00a0 Tourism resulted in a $55 billion impact to the city\u2019s economy, and furthermore led to selling a record 29 million hotel rooms. The city\u2019s occupancy is up to 87 percent, the highest in the nation.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The spike in tourism<\/a> has prompted officials to keep momentum up.\u00a0 \u201cI\u2019m confident that 2013 will be another mammoth year for tourism in our city,\u201d said Mayor Michael Bloomberg. \u201cTourism is booming because we\u2019re the nation\u2019s most exciting city and during 2013, we\u2019re going to keep adding to the parks and cultural institutions that bring millions of people here every year.\u201d\u00a0 Sightseers included 41 million domestic tourists and 11 million internationally.\u00a0 That’s a lot of flights to New York City<\/a><\/strong>!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n It\u2019s not hard to figure out why tourists flock to the Big Apple.\u00a0 With the shopping, dining, landmarks, culture, Broadway, and famous sightseeing, there\u2019s something everyone can enjoy.\u00a0 Tourism officials will continue being relentless in trying to attract international visitors, as they spend significantly more money than Americans.\u00a0 Cha-ching!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
