Japan Airlines recently unveiled a plan to install bamboo wheelchairs at two airports in early 2011. <\/p>\n

\nThe chairs are part of a pilot program aimed at reducing the length of screening processes at Japanese airports.\n<\/p>\n

\nThe metal wheelchairs currently in use often lead to delays as they trigger sensors in airport metal detectors.\n<\/p>\n

\nAccording to airline officials, the new bamboo chairs will be completely metal-free and should not trigger any security alarms.\n<\/p>\n

\nA number of the chairs will be unveiled in the coming months at Haneda Airport in Tokyo as well as Oita Airport in Kunisaki. \n<\/p>\n
