Arguably the best part of the season in the States, Ireland is no different.\u00a0 With a wide variation of music genres and a much deeper appreciation for the usually allusive sun, the Irish music festivals this summer are surely something to look forward to.\u00a0 Here is a list of some of the biggest, when they\u2019re happening and who will be performing.<\/p>\n

Electric Picnic <\/a>
\nFriday August 30th to September 1st<\/strong>
\nStradbally Estate, County Laois<\/em><\/p>\n

One of Ireland\u2019s biggest events all year, Electric Picnic is a three-day event with options to camp and purchase 1-3 day passes. The lineup includes Fatboy Slim, Bjork, Arctic Monkeys, My Bloody Valentine, Franz Ferdinand, Wu-Tang Clan, St. Vincent, and many more.\u00a0\u00a0 Prices range from \u20ac149.50 to \u20ac229.50 depending on when you purchase.\u00a0 Discounts are available for fans who have attended three picnics before, and fans who decide to cycle to the festival for charity are also eligible for discounted entry.<\/p>\n

Oxegen <\/a>
\nFriday August 2nd to Sunday August 4th<\/strong>
\nPunchestown Racecourse <\/em><\/p>\n

This festival is geared toward electro pop music fans looking for dance and popular music<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0 Headliners this year include David Guetta and Calvin Harris, with Snoop Dog, Pitbull, Nero and many others.\u00a0 This 3-day festival also welcomes campers, and ticket prices vary from \u20ac129.50 to \u20ac149.50.<\/p>\n

Longitude Festival <\/a>
\nFriday July 19th to Sunday July 21st <\/strong>
\nMarlay Park, Dublin<\/em><\/p>\n

Longitude is probably my top pick for music festivals this summer.\u00a0\u00a0 This festival is also three days, with headliners such as Phoenix, Vampire Weekend, and Kraftwerk, as well as big acts like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Local Natives, Japandroids, and Modest Mouse. My problem now is deciding which day to go, but maybe all three is the only answer!\u00a0 Tickets range from \u20ac54.50 to \u20ac149.50.\u00a0 There is no camping at this festival.<\/p>\n

Forbidden Fruit <\/a>
\nSaturday June 1st and Sunday June 2nd<\/strong>
\nKilmainham, Dublin <\/em><\/p>\n

This festival is one of the few held within the city, with tickets ranging from \u20ac54.50 to \u20ac99.50.\u00a0 Headliners Kasabian, Crystal Castles, James Blake, Chic, Four Tet, Everything Everything and Primal Scream will perform.\u00a0 Forbidden Fruit also has two comedy tents showcasing some of Ireland\u2019s funniest.<\/p>\n
