Photo credit: Sean MacEntee\" width=\"450\" height=\"340\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">This past weekend I had the pleasure of visiting Wexford in the Southeast region of Ireland. \u00a0Slightly similar to my visit to\u00a0Kinsale, Cork, I found Wexford a bit more hilly and lush. \u00a0We spent the majority of the weekend swimming in a nearby lake, and taking in the gorgeous scenery of horses scattered across rolling landscape. But there is a lot more to see and do in this Southern region. \u00a0It\u2019s only about a two hour bus ride away from Dublin and \u20ac20 for student travelers via\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/wexfordbus.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Wexford bus<\/a>. Here are a few tips for travelers visiting County Wexford this summer:<\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Wexford has many gorgeous beaches and we took a trip to Curracloe Beach, very long and beautiful and featured in the film, <em>Saving Private Ryan<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>Dunbrody Abbey, located in New Ross is another fascinating site to see in Wexford and is a beautiful monastery dating back to the 12th century. \u00a0While on the grounds, visitors can enter a maze made out of hedges, enjoy the tea rooms, and visit the craft gallery.<\/li>\n<li>If you\u2019re out and about during the evening, I recommend a visit to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.theskyandtheground.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">The Sky and the Ground<\/a>\u00a0pub in Wexford Town. \u00a0While the downstairs of the pub is and eclectic, the upstairs has a craft beer bar perfect for the beer connoisseur, stocked with specialty brews from around the country. \u00a0The pub is owned and operated by a friendly and welcoming family you\u2019d be lucky to meet during your travels.<\/li>\n<li>The Irish National Heritage Park is located in Ferrycarrig and is Ireland\u2019s largest open air museum. \u00a0The complex has recreated structures and scenes from history, like a Viking boatyard, homes from ancient times, forts and monasteries. \u00a0There are also many guided activities to choose from, appropriate for family members of all ages.<\/li>\n<li>There are many seaside sites as well, such as the Tacumshane Windmill in Broadway, dating back to 1846, or the Kilmore Quay, the site of a historic shipping port. \u00a0The Saltee Islands are nearby, inhabited only by the local avian population.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div>There\u2019s plenty to do in Wexford and it\u2019s a great place to visit during the Summer months.
