\nThe leaves are turning, and you desperately need a quick,
\nrelaxing fall getaway. A long weekend in Vermont is the perfect remedy. With
\ncheap tickets to the Green Mountain State, you can enjoy what is considered the
\nmost spectacular time of year in Vermont, when the state is briefly a
\ncornucopia of color. Festivals celebrating the fall harvest, local arts and
\ncrafts, and food are happening all over the state.\n<\/p>\n

\nGood With a Chainsaw?
\n<\/strong>Chainsaw is big in Vermont, and the best time to see it is
\nOctober 9-14 during the Big
\nBuzz Carving Festival<\/a> in Chester, Vermont, on Route 103. More than 20
\ncarvers display their talents and work, and an art auction will be held.  Watch chainsaw carvers at work and take a
\ntour of artist and event organizer Barre Pinske's gallery and studio in
\nChester.\n<\/p>\n

\nGo Stowe!
\n<\/strong>Stowe is one of my favorite mountain towns, and is one of
\nVermont's most popular ski resorts thanks to the 4,393-foot Mount Mansfield,
\nthe state's tallest peak. From October 11-13 is the Stowe Foliage Arts Festival<\/a>,
\ncombining the town's year-round love for the arts with fall season splendor. The
\nweekend is an opportunity to see and buy a wide range of traditional and
\ncontemporary artwork and crafts, including photography, painting, and
\nsculpture, and to enjoy live music, great food, and beer (it is October, after
\nall).\n<\/p>\n

\nLike Pie?
\n<\/strong>The Dummerston Apple Pie Festival on October 13 at the
\nDummerston Congregational Church tends to sell out just about every year. Leave
\nworries about your waistline behind and come out to choose from more than 1,500
\npies. Enjoy a whole pie or pie by the slice. There's also fresh apple cider,
\ndonuts, and ice cream, for those who prefer their pies a la mode.\n<\/p>\n

\nGet Lost on the Farm
\n<\/strong>Visit the Gaines Farm<\/a>
\nin Guilford, Vermont, and enjoy its spooktacular Haloween events every Friday
\nand Saturday night from October 11-26. Get lost on the farm's giant, seven-acre
\n(and haunted) corn maze. Take a haunted hay ride. Enjoy a bonfire and a
\ntwilight maze walk. There's also pumpkin bowling, the cow train, and the corn
\ncannon. Check it out.\n<\/p>\n
