\nTravel back in time with the MTA as it dusts off its vintage trains from yesteryear. <\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nFor the first four Sundays in December, romantic, green-hued trains, in service from the 1930s to the 1970s, will replace the stainless-steel, fluorescent-lit trains of today. Dubbed the “Nostalgia Special”, the vintage cars feature ceiling fans, padded seats, and incandescent light bulbs. Old signs hang on the walls, advertising fares as low as 10 cents per ride. Unfortunately, passengers will still have to pay the modern-day price of $2.50. <\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nThe trains will travel up and down the M line between Long Island City and Lower Manhattan. During the week, weather-permitting, bus passengers can climb aboard NYC Transit’s vintage fleet of buses. They will parade along 42nd street in Manhattan. The buses include models from the 1950s through the 1980s. <\/span>\n<\/p>\n
