Star Alliance members Continental Airlines and Greek carrier Aegean
\nAirlines announced Monday that they will start a codeshare agreement
\nbetween New York and Athens.<\/p>\n

Upon government approval, Aegean will also
\ncodeshare with the Houston-based carrier on flights from New York to
\nParis and Rome.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
“Aegean Airlines continues to expand its codeshare strategy across the
\nworld. Thanks to this new partnership with Continental we can now offer
\nGreek passengers a great travel solution to New York,” Aegean’s chief
\nexecutive Dimitris Gerogiannis said in a statement.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Codesharing is when two or more airlines work together by selling tickets on flights operated by one or both companies. Members of frequent-flyer programs on both airlines can earn and redeem miles anywhere on the carrier’s global route network.<\/p>\n

Aegean Airlines became the 28th member of the Star Alliance in June this year. Other members of the 13 year old network include Air Canada, Air China, Singapore Airlines and United Airlines. The Star Alliance offers over 21,000 daily flights to 1,172 airports in 181 destinations worldwide.<\/p>\n
